Dark Haven Guild Charter

1. It's a game. Play nice. Have fun!

2. We are a guild of friends. Our goal is to make World of Warcraft fun for all.

3. We respect the right of every player to enjoy the game in his or her own way. As long as you are not making play less fun for others, play as you will.

4. We reserve the right to toss anyone out of the guild if they are behaving like a jerk.

5. Keep language PG-13 in the guild chat. Cursing in the guild chat is one thing that does make the game less fun for others. Accidental slips, one time outbursts of anger, or typos won't get you tossed, but you are expected to use good judgment. Keep more "colorful" conversation in a chat group or in tells, as long as others in the conversation are OK with that.

6. If you don't know, ask. Guild members have a wealth of knowledge and are happy to share.

7. Be polite.

8. Be kind (except to the Horde, and monsters).

9. Use common sense.

10. Be a good sport and promote good sportsmanship.

11. This guild is a democracy. Majority rules.

12. We encourage grouping with other players around the same level. We discourage power leveling (PL). Please don't ask to be power leveled. However, if you are feeling generous, it's not against the rules to offer to power level others.

13. If you have difficulty finding players around your level to group with, put out a request in the Guild Chat, or a post on the forums. Most guild members have alts of varying levels and are more than happy to set up a time to group.

14. No means no. If you make a request to someone and they say no, please respect that. Do not keep asking, you just become irritating. (Go back and read rule #4).

15. Remember that you represent the guild in your interactions with other players.

16. Guild officers are volunteers. Please recognize the extra work they put in to run the guild. Please respect their game time.

17. Anyone that is helping the guild can be an officer. "Helping the guild" is loosely defined as any activity above and beyond game play that enhances the game experience for others. Some examples are: leading groups (instances, raids, dungeons or PvP), crafting, answering game questions, helping when needed, helping with the website and message board.

18. If you are a guild officer and helping out with the guild is no longer fun, please step down and take a break. We don't want being an officer to reduce fun for anyone.

19. If you are a guild officer and you are leaving the game or server for an extended period of time, please step down so that we know you will be unavailable.

20. If you have a concern about another Dark Haven member, please speak to that person directly about what's bothering you and attempt to resolve the issue together. Most of the time, an honest conversation can clear up any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. If this is not possible, or if you're uncomfortable with a one-on-one setting, ask an officer to mediate the discussion.

If you have a concern about another player who is not in Dark Haven, you should take the same approach. If the person is unreasonable, a jerk, or personally attacks you, let an officer know right away. Make sure you give the officer the player's name and guild name in case further action is needed. Don't fight fire with fire--if the player is taunting, swearing, or trying to bait you into action, simply disband, walk away, and put him/her on /ignore.

21. See rule #1.

Invitation to Dark Haven

1. Any officer may invite into guild upon their own or guild member request. Prior to doing the invite, a callout to the guild window should be made. This way, if the potential new member already has a bad reputation with some of our guild members, we can save us all some time.

2. People requesting membership are required to first read our Guild Charter and decide if those are rules they are willing to play by. They should know what they are getting into and we should know they agree to abide by our guidelines before they are even considered.

3.The new guild member will be given a probationary period to allow the guild an opportunity to interact with the initiate. It needs to be made clear to the new initiate that they are on probation and exactly what that means. We certainly don't want to create hard feelings. Probationary members must register on the message board before being promoted to full member status.

4. Upon completion off probationary period guild members are promoted to member status.

5. Well known players migrating to us may be allowed full rank at onset of membership with officer council approval. (well known meaning known by us not necessarily "famous players")

6. If the initiate feels their situation warrants an exception, they may ask for a discussion with the officers on-line. The decision of this meeting is final and may not be appealed. If a new initiate is caught trying to lobby other officers for a change in the rules for them after the decision is made, they will be removed.

Dark Haven Ranks

Guild Council  - These are the leaders of the guild. They spend extra time and effort to run the bank, website, and plan events and raids.

Council Alts - Alternates for the Guild Council. These characters cannot remove or demote members, but can invite and promote them.

Member - Members have access to the guild bank as well as earn guild bank credit for attending guild events, meetings, and raids. Members with at least 6 months of inactivity will be removed from the guild unless approved by Guild Council

Alternate - We ask that you limit your alternates to a reasonable number.  An alternate should list who their main is in their Public Note.

Initiate - This rank is for new members.  During the probationary period, initiates must register on the message board as well as group with members in order to be considered for full member status. Initiates with at least 4 months if inactivity will be removed from the guild.  You may reapply when you have more time to play.
